I Welcome you to Dorothy’s world

I have been working here at Dorothy’s for about a week now and have been trying to figure out ways to stay away. I have found one! The internet. I did not think that I would have internet access, but alas I found a network. I will be able to get a lot done here because I won’t be sleeping and I also will not have children to tend to.

I think that Dorothy may be afraid of the storm. She asks me to come in the room with her and lay down or sit down. She hasn’t even gone back to sleep yet like she normally would have. I guess she slept all day yesterday, she went to sleep around 4pm yesterday and when I arrived at 11pm the person I was relieving said that she was asleep all evening except for a bathroom run around 9pm. I figured that this meant that she would be up all night with me, watching tv or what have you, but no. She slept until midnight when I had to flush her g-tube and so she got up for the restroom, and then she was up again at the 6am flushing of the g-tube.

They all keep saying that she will get better once she is acclimated to her home again but I do not think that this will happen. I heard her have a full length conversation with someone, around 3am. She talked as if they were talking back to her yet there is no other person here with us. She often forgets how to do the things that they said she would immediately remember, like how to brush her teeth and what toilet paper is. She also had no idea what to do with her spoon.

My sister in law works the 4-11 shift, most days and she said to me that Dorothy had asked her if her and her sister had paid her yet, her sister passed away 20 years ago. She also thought that she was 16 years old that day. One day when I was getting her from the bed, she looked back at the bed for a moment, smiled, laughed and then turned to me and said that she had thought that the stuffed lion on her bed was alive for a moment and that he would want to come with us, but then she realized that he was not.
